Graston Technique

The Graston technique is a therapy in which stainless steel instruments specifically designed for transverse massages are used for the diagnosis and treatment of soft tissue dysfunctions. This technique aims to relax and heal soft tissue, whether they are muscles, ligaments, tendons or fasciae. The Graston technique also allows to improve the appearance of scars.

How does the Graston technique work?

The particular design of the Graston instruments allows to locate tensions or adhesions (scar tissue) in soft tissue and to break them in order to restore their optimal function. The use of these instruments allows for the release and speedy healing of the lesions.

How do patients react to the Graston technique?

Patients feel a deep massage sensation, friction, heat and sometimes discomfort or mild pain during the application of these instruments, which are adapted to the needs of each patient. When pain is present, it decreases rapidly. Light to moderate ecchymoses may appear when scar tissue is broken up.

Why do we use the Graston technique?

The Graston technique is an alternative therapy of soft tissues that can be effective when other techniques aren’t as effective.
